The University of Luxembourg will be holding a conference entitled “The European Economic Area as a Model for Brexit?” on 30 January 2018.

The departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union poses complex and difficult questions about its future relationship with the EU. Although becoming a ‘third country’, the UK will nevertheless remain a major economic and political partner, requiring careful and creative reflection on the future governance of this relationship.

A panel made up of the President of the European Free Trade Association Court, Professor Carl Baudenbacher, and a leading academic commentator on Brexit, Professor Steve Peers of the University of Essex, will discuss the possibilities and limits of one of the principal models for Brexit to have thus far animated the debate.

The event will be held from 12:00 to 14:00 at the University of Luxembourg’s Weicker Building, Room B001 – Ground floor (4, rue Alphonse Weicker, L-2721 Luxembourg).
