The Institute for Global Finance Integrity (TIGFI) has announced the 58th Luxembourg Monthly Finance Lunch to take place on Wednesday 5 February 2018 at the Cercle Munster, from 12:00.

At the upcoming Luxembourg Monthly Finance Lunch for February, Karel Lannoo, Chief Executive at the Centre for European Policy Studies, Brussels, will speak on “Regulating integrity in finance: is the EU framework fit for purpose?”.

Karel Lannoo has been Chief executive of CEPS since 2000, a leading independent European think tank. He has published books and numerous articles in newspapers, specialised magazines and journals on general European public policy, and specific financial regulation and supervision matters. His latest book, ‘The Great Financial Plumbing, From Northern Rock to Banking Union’, Rowman and Littlefield, was published in 2015.

He is a regular speaker at hearings for national and international institutions (EU Commission, European Parliament and related), at international conferences and in corporate briefings.

He is rapporteur for many CEPS task forces, chaired by senior European officials and business leaders (with a.o. Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa), and he directs the European Capital Markets Institute (ECMI) and the European Credit Research Institute (ECRI), both operated by CEPS.

Independent director of BME (Bolsas y Mercados Espanoles), that manages the Spanish securities markets, he is, or was, also a member of the Euribor Steering Committee, the European Money Markets Institute (EMMI) (2013 – 2017) and member of numerous advisory councils of charities and foundations.

Karel Lannoo holds a baccalaureate in philosophy (1984) and an MA in modern history (1985) from the University of Leuven, Belgium and obtained a postgraduate in European studies (Centre d’Etudes européennes, CEE) from the University of Nancy, France (1986).

The event will begin with drinks at 12:00, with Karel Lannoo speaking from 12:30.
