On 15 September, Luxembourg’s Abbaye de Neumunster published the new edition of their cultural magazine De Gudde Grond, which reveals their October 2016 to March 2017 programme.

The Abbaye de Neumunster's new cultural programme includes many events for English-speakers, one of the highlights being the Iraqi comedian Ahmed Albasheer’s first ever one-man show “Extreme Laugh”.

The event will take place at 20:00 on 10 February 2017 in Salle Robert Krieps as part of the comedy festival “Humour pour la Paix 2017”. The festival was first launched in 2007 and is dedicated to another Iraqi humourist, Walid Hassan, who was assassinated the year before.

Ahmed Albasheer uses comedy and parody as a way of fighting against obscurantism, often making fun of issues such as war, terrorism and corruption. The Albasheer Show is currently one of the most successful comic productions of the Arab world.
