On Tuesday 20 February 2024, Luxembourg’s Minister for Research and Higher Education, Stéphanie Obertin, met representatives of the Luxembourg Association of Medical Students (Association Luxembourgeoise des Étudiants en Médécine - ALEM).

During the interview, studies in medicine at the University of Luxembourg and in neighbouring countries were discussed, as well as the extension of the list of medical specialisations for which training is offered in the Grand Duchy.

In this context, ALEM presented a study which will be launched in the short-term among all resident medical students and which aims to establish an inventory of the various medical training courses in Luxembourg and abroad.

Representatives of ALEM presented the practical implications of the modification made to the internship regime for students through the law of 21 July 2023, aimed at the organisation of higher education. Additionally, possible adaptations to be made to the internship regime for doctors undergoing specialisation were also on the agenda.
