At its last meeting in Weiswampach City Hall, the Organising Committee of the Wämper Triathlon presented a cheque worth €1,000 to SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde for its programmes in Guinea.

This donation follows the 22nd edition of the sporting event that last August brought hundreds of athletes of all ages and levels to the many events on the week-end programme. The Luxembourg association SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde was also there to organise, with a handful of volunteers, a face-painting stand for the youngest within the audience.

The Mayor of Weiswampach, Henri Rinnen, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Wämper Triathlon, Antoine Moureaud, and the members of the team presented €1,000 to Sonia Dos Santos, Partnerships and Events Manager for SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde. She warmly thanked the entire team for her generous and long-standing support. SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde has been charity partner for 5 years in this major sporting event which, over the years, has raised €5,000 for various projects supported by the association in Niger, Nepal and Guinea.

Like last year, the sum raised during the 22nd Wämper Triathlon will be awarded to Guinea, a country where equal access to quality education remains a challenge for all. SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde supports four community support programmes (for 4,000 children and 860 families in Labé, Kankan, N'Zérékoré and Conakry), which focus on respect for this fundamental right to education that every community must be able to guarantee its children.
