Villeroy & Boch presenting a cheque to SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde;

For the second year in a row, Villeroy & Boch put on sale in mid-November for the benefit of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, featuring the Rovaniemi gold-plated mug from the famous NewWave series Caffè Cities of the World; 10% of sales of this cup in its three stores in the capital were dedicated to education projects.

Revenues allocated to the good cause doubled in comparison with the previous action.

On 9 March 2018, Laurent Turmes, manager of Villeroy & Boch Sàrl and director of global marketing of tableware, presented a cheque for €1,670 to Sophie Glesener, Director of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde. The money will be donated to projects that focus on strengthening the right of all children to quality education. Early education, primary education, higher education and vocational training will bring vulnerable children and adolescents to a better future. SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde supports, in particular, community support programmes for child protection in West Africa with the aim of strengthening society in a sustainable way so that biological families can offer their children a protective and stimulating environment conducive to their development.

Alongside these development programmes, it is also a question of guaranteeing children in emergency situations access to an education. Thus, SOS, with its partners, organises as needed: Child-friendly spaces where children play, learn and rebuild; temporary learning spaces; the distribution of school materials; schooling of displaced children; (re)construction of community schools; capacity building of teachers; the opening of spaces dedicated to new technologies for refugee children and raising awareness of the danger of child labour.

On behalf of the SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde team, Sophie Glesener warmly thanked Laurent Turmes and Villeroy & Boch for this special Christmas initiative: "Education is not only a right, it is also a guarantee of peace. We are truly grateful for your support in ensuring access to education for the most vulnerable children in the world."

As for Laurent Turmes, he stressed: "It is important for Villeroy & Boch to also be able to commit to the most disadvantaged groups in society and to have found in SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde a strong and reliable partner who cares about the future of many children and thereby positively influences society. We are delighted that for its second edition this Christmas action has had such a strong impact on our customers."
