The bank HSBC has presented a cheque for €12,000 to the charity SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde to go towards development and emergency aid.

On 6 February 2018, Lars Rejding, CEO of HSBC in Luxembourg, invited Sophie Glesener, Director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, to give her a check for €12,000. This donation corresponds to the sums collected during the various initiatives carried out in 2017 and will be attributed to several SOS projects in Guinea, Lebanon and Nepal.

These projects include the Child Protection Community Support Program set up in Conakry, Guinea, one of twelve development projects that SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde supports in West Africa. In the heart of the Guinean capital, 950 children and 275 families are involved in this five-year program that focuses on empowering communities in the education of their children.

The management and employees of HSBC in Luxembourg have long been involved with SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde for the cause of vulnerable children around the world, with 2017 coinciding with the 10-year anniversary of this partnership. In addition to her annual gift and other recurring initiatives, last year saw the organization of a Christmas raffle for employees, many of whom also took part in other SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde events, such as the Nepal Challenge and the Charity Dinner.
