Cactus has donated the old work clothes of its staff to the "Kolping-Jongenheem" and "Aide aux Enfants Handicapés du Grand-Duchy" non-profit associations, two charity organisations committed to the well-being of children with disabilities or disadvantaged in Luxembourg.
On the occasion of its 50th jubilee, since October, all the staff of the points of sale in Cactus supermarkets have been presenting themselves in a more modern look. This change was matched by a donation of old work clothes for charitable purposes. The two associations are Cactus' long-standing partners, received around 7 tons of clothing, the equivalent of some 10,000 items. The two charities give a second life to these clothes, allowing them to become part of concrete projects that benefit children with disabilities or disadvantaged in Luxembourg.
For many years, Cactus has put its car parks at the disposal of the two associations for the implementation of garment collection containers. Trousers, blouses, t-shirts, shoes and more are collected, sorted and distributed in the textile "circuit", either as goods or as raw materials. If the clothes are in good condition, they are sent to countries where people can not afford new clothes. Those which no longer meet quality criteria are recycled. The revenues from these activities will be mainly invested in charitable projects in Luxembourg.
