Luxembourg's association for employees of banks and insurance companies, ALEBA, has announced that a Japanese bank active in Luxembourg, the Mitsubishi UFJ Investor Services & Banking, had last month refused to comply with a judgment of the Luxembourg Court of Appeal which obliged it to reinstate the staff representative in his original post.

Since then, a demonstration was held in front of the bank building and meetings were held between ALEBA, ITM (Labour Inspectorate) and the Ministry of Labour. The ITM decided to travel in person to ensure compliance with the decision of the highest instance in Luxembourg.

The judicial officers, a bailiff and the employee's lawyer will be present at the bank's headquarters on Route d'Arlon alongside the ITM delegate and inspectors tomorrow, Tuesday 11 July, to verify that the rights Of the employee and the decision of the Luxembourg courts are being respected. A support group will also be present in the morning in front of the building, in order to show their solidarity and support for the employee-delegate.
