On Tuesday 19 December, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Etienne Schneider, was announced as the recepient of the "Government Leader of the Year (Civil)" by SpaceNews magazine (US).

The awards were announced at a ceremony in Washington; distributed into 8 categories, these awards recognise excellence and innovation among professionals, companies, programmes and organisations in the space industry.

Covering the political and commercial news of the international space industry, the SpaceNews magazine and its readers, as well as an independent jury that selected the finalists, honoured Minister Schneider's commitment to promote exploration and development, the use of space resources and for positioning Luxembourg with the SpaceResources.lu initiative as a European centre in this field.

At the official awards ceremony in Washington at the City Club, HE Sylvie Lucas, Ambassador of Luxembourg to the United States of America, accepted this award on behalf of Minister Etienne Schneider.
