On Monday evening, a 19 year-old woman died following a traffic accident on the N12.
The accident happened shortly after 21:00 when she was driving from Lehrhof to Grosbous. According to the police, the driver, a 19 year-old woman from Merztig travelling with her 16 month-old toddler, lost control of the car on a long right-hand bend in the road and crashed into a roadside tree.
The driver was trapped and had to be freed from the wreckage by rescue workers who also rescued the toddler from the back seat. Both occupants of the car were rushed to hospital.
Early in the morning, the mother died in hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.
The road was closed to traffic until about 23:00.
