In the early hours of Saturday morning, a 28 year-old motorist and a 22 year-old passenger lost their life in a car accident that happened on the N4 road between Dippach and Helfent.
The accident happened at around 04:00 as the car was being driven from Dippach. Accodring to the police, this car veered across the road into the path of an oncoming car which was hurled across the road and hit a roadside tree. Both the driver and the passenger did instantly; the driver of the first car was uninjured in the accident. The police breathalysed him and found him to be over the limit, whereupon the Public Prosecutor ordered his arrest.
The road was closed to traffic in both directions.
