The number of jobseekers in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has fallen by 2% over a one-year period.

As of 31 July 2017, the amount of resident job seekers registered with the ADEM was found to be 16,296. Over one year, this represents a decrease of 338 individuals, ie 2.0%.

Likewise, the unemployment rate stands at 6.1%, which is 0.3 points below the July 2016 level.

Meanwhile, registration to ADEM increased by 135 people between July 2016 and July 2017. These were mainly temporary workers from the construction sector, a sector that tends to be idle in July and August.

However, the number of people assigned to an employment measure decreased from 5,171 in July 2016 to 5,098 in July 2017. This is the 15th consecutive month in which this number is declining.

Finally, in July 2017, employers declared 2,905 vacant positions at ADEM, which is equivalent to a 15.9% increase compared to July 2016. Half of this increase is attributed to favourable market conditions in the fields of company support staff and particularly  accounting, secretarial and management consulting activities.
