Luxembourg's Customs and Excise Administration has announced that it has intercepted 58kg of khat, an illegal narcotic, at Lux-Airport.

On 29 January 2018, anti-drugs officials of the Customs Administration managed to intercept around 58 kilograms of khat. An airline passenger who served as a courier carried two suitcases with khat, having travelled from Nairobi via Abu Dhabi and Nice to Luxembourg. The courier was picked up at the airport by another man. The 58 kilograms of khat were intended for the Dutch market.

The public prosecutor ordered the arrest of both men who were then brought before the examining magistrate. The drugs, cell phones and a car were seized.

The two men are currently in custody.
