In order to promote and integrate urban art into the public space, the Ville de Luxembourg (VdL) will be providing professional artists with dedicated spaces to express themselves freely and legally.

As part of the VdL’s attempts to promote urban art, the passage between the Zenit and the Royal-Hamilius projects will house a work by the artist David Brognon under the name of "The Plug". 40 metres long, the work is being created under the slogan "Engage le jeu que je le gagne" (engage in the game I win), a phrase that is intended- in the words of David Brognon- to be "ambitious, combative and fun" and that lends itself well to this place where two major architectural projects are developing. In order to brighten up the passage as much as possible, the artist has chosen chrome colours that echo against the neon lights. Produced on 65 plates, the work can be dismantled and moved to other parts of the city. The cost of the project is approximately €14,500.

Other places in the city also currently host projects of urban art or street art, such as Place Guillaume II, which is redesigned every 3 to 4 months by a professional artist; Alain Welter is currently producing a project of urban art here. In addition, two other works have recently been created in Luxembourg City. Since November 2017, a twenty-by-three-metre fresco by graffiti artist Stick on the walls of the Helfenterbrück tunnel invites passers-by to interpret a universe close to nature created by the artist. Secondly, a work by Chiara Dahlem, reminiscent of the apple of Eden, currently decorates the wall of free expression located near the Dommeldang primary school.

Permanent urban art projects such as the mural by André Ménard in the Rue des Capucins or Joël Rollinger's "One city-one world" on the Place du Théâtre, as well as temporary art such as the graffiti  present in Place Guillaume II from December 2016 to April 2017, are part of the VdL’s Urban Art Committee’s activities. The committee was created in 2013 following the underground graffiti project in Aldringen.
