Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, will participate in the "Gymnich" meeting of the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs on 7 and 8 September 2017 in Tallinn in Estonia.

Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn is representing Luxembourg today and tomorrow at an informal meeting with his EU counterparts in Estonia.

In the framework of this meeting, the ministers will deal with the "package of defence" approved by the European Council in December 2016, to determine the work of the EU’s global strategy in the areas of security and defence, the European Action Plan (EDAP) and EU-NATO co-operation.

Among the most important issues to be dealt with at the Gymnich meeting, the EU Ministers of Foreign Affairs will discuss the international political situation, namely that of the Middle East and recent developments in North Korea and Venezuela.

In the presence of the Foreign Ministers from EU candidate countries, the Gymnich Meeting will conclude with a working session on the prevention of and fight against violent extremism.
