Nyuko will be launching its “Eskills for Women” programme in June, devoted to women who wish to develop their computer skills to access jobs related to, or start a business in the digital sector, with the support of the JP Morgan foundation and ADEM.
“Eskills for Women” will include a series of workshops focusing on digital skills, including a foundation into programming, as well as modules to develop entrepreneurial skills. The programme is aimed at women aged between 18 and 55, with all levels of qualification, and with a good command of French, English and office parlance. Candidates will be selected, in part with the help of ADEM counsellors and priority will be given to those who have a business project.
Women are still underrepresented in the digital and technological fields. Marina Andrieu-Thiriet, Project Manager at Nyuko and programme coordinator, explains that “this kind of initiative is required to promote diversity in this key sector in Luxembourg”. Women in digital is one of the priorities of the Digital Agenda for Jobs, of the European Commission, as well as for the government strategy, “Digital Lëtzebuerg”.
ADEM will support the project because it allows women who are searching for a job to move into the industry, develop the necessary skills and define their professional project first-hand.
Monique Goerens, Delegate for Women’s Employment at ADEM, explained: “The mastery of digital skills helps one stand out, and ‘Eskills’ will be an important element in facilitating one’s future integration into the labour market.”
