The Indian Business Chamber Luxembourg (IBCL), in collaboration with Aide à l'Enfance de l'Inde, is organising an evening seminar on the topic of "GROWTH versus EQUITY: WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES?" on Monday 1 February  2016 at 18:00 at the headquarters of BGL BNP Paribas (50 avenue J.F.Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg-Kirchberg).

India has strongly grown since its economic reforms of the early 1990s with growth accelerating in recent years. Its growth rate in 2015 was probably the best among BRIC nations. This successful economic development achieved a significant reduction of poverty but also witnessed a significant rise in inequality. As such, the government declared its goal to achieve policy changes in order to stimulate faster and more inclusive growth which shall also help in faster conclusion of the Comprehensive Europe – India Economic treaty.

As these developments will have significant consequences for the world, the speaker, Mr. Zingel, will present an interesting case study on how European businesses and more particularly Luxembourg can stand to gain from these developments of India's economy and society, especially over the past two years.

Speaker: Wolfgang-Peter Zingel is an associate member of South Asia Institute of Heidelberg University. Mr Zingel is also Visiting Fellow Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi (India). Mr Zingel has spent significant time working with several universities in India, Bangla Desh and Pakistan during the last ten years. As a recognized expert in Indian developments he has been invited to the European Parliament in October 2015, where he made a presentation on India's economic progress.

The welcome desk will open at 18:00 with the seminar starting at 18:30. The seminar will be followed by a networking cocktail.

Attendance is free-of-charge. To register to attend, email: register@ibcl.lu or online at www.ibcl.lu/events.php
