Over 500 people celebrated Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights, at the Chapito in Casino2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains on Saturday evening, organised by the Indian Business Chamber in Luxembourg (IBCL), with both IBCL members, family and friends of India.

With the bright red colour-scheme of the Chapito complementing the event's theme, IBCL Chairman Sudhir Kohli welcomed everyone and explained that Diwali is celebrated on the last day of the lunar year, before thanking the IBCL officers, sponsors and media partners for their work and support over the past year. A minute's silence was held in solidarity with those killed and injured in the terrorist attacks in Paris the previous day.

Together with his wife Anita, they lit the ceremonial lamp before the festivities began, led by Aditya Sharma as Master of Ceremonies. The famous troupe of Absolute Bollywood dancers led the entertainment with a series of colourful and energetic dances on stage accompanied by both Bollywood and contemporary music with multiple costume changes.

A sumptuous buffet of traditional Indian dishes was then laid on for all, with samosas, curries and Indian bread all available before a dessert of mango ice-cream.

A tombola was also held with various prizes on offer, with Chris from London winning the Luxair voucher for 2 return flights to one if their European destinations. A well-organised event in a wonderful location!
