2017 is the 25th anniversary year for the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg and, as part of the yearlong celebrations, the Chamber held a very successful garden party brunch on Sunday 25 June 2017 in the splendid gardens of the British Ambassador’s residence.

HM Ambassador John Marshall graciously opened his home and garden for this exceptional celebration. More than 100 chamber members, friends and special guests were able to enjoy a cooked breakfast and Sunday lunch staples. The event was enriched by famous food-blogger, cookbook writer and TV-chef Anne Faber, a celebration cake from Kathy's Deli and Cupcakery and live music performed by the well-known Luxembourg duo Krunnemécken. The event was generously sponsored by BCC sustaining member CLdN Cobelfret.

A special highlight of the event was the presence of the renowned stage and screen actor Jude Law, visiting Luxembourg for a 2-day performance of the play "Obsession" at the Grand Theatre. Jude mingled with guests and patiently posed for many photo opportunities with all those who wished a memento of the day.

Also present was the British street artist James Straffon who has created a series of street art depicting famous faces from the Tour de France across the years, including one of Mark Cavendish on the Ambassador’s garden wall!

The Ambassador warmly welcomed everyone and underlined the importance of the work done by the BCC for the English-speaking community in Luxembourg: “We are very proud to support the continuous efforts by the British Chamber of Commerce to create closer ties between the business community and public institutions. In the wake of Brexit, it is important to take a partnership approach and to work closely together. We are very satisfied with our collaboration with the BCC and look forward to continue supporting their initiatives wherever possible.”

Newly-elected Chair of the Chamber, Joanna Denton, provided some context to the development of the Chamber over the last 25 years: “It all started with a small group of visionary business leaders who created the basis for what has become this significant organisation which counts today 323 members and organises on average 20 keynote events per year. The BCC is proud to be a partner of reference for the English-speaking business community in Luxembourg. Today more than ever, the role of the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg is to bring together people, knowledge and ideas to support and strengthen business ties between the UK and the Grand Duchy.”
