On 30 June and 2 July 2017, 27 students of the Luxembourg Tech School took part in the LHoFT Foundations’ Hackathon to discuss future banks.

What does the bank of the future look like? This is the question that was addressed to the 27 students of the Luxembourg Tech School gathered last weekend for the Hackathon hosted by the LHoFT Foundation in Kirchberg and supported by Digital Lëtzebuerg and Temenos, a leading banking software vendor, who provided the technical infrastructure.

Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel opened the Hackathon, encouraging the students to learn and apply technology in a real business context.

The students, split into 7 teams, competed to create the best solutions and invent the bank of tomorrow.  Students were supported by Sergio Coronado, chief coach of the LTS, and a range of mentors from the financial industry passing on knowledge, providing advice and feedback.

The 27 students brought together creativity, vision and agility. The jury highlighted the very high quality of the solutions and the incredible ability of this young generation, who will be the future customers of and potentially leaders in financial services, to adapt.

The top three prizes, offered by Tenemos, were as follows: First Prize of €1,600 went to Visicred, a platform that simplifies loan planification; Second Prize of €900 went to Lifebank, an app offering suggestions for saving money; Third Prize of €500 to Blockbank, an online bank based on Ethereum.
