The 2017 edition of the BGL BNP PARIBAS WTA Luxembourg Open will be held at the CK Sportcenter Kockelscheuer from 14-21 October 2017, as announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

The theme for the tournament is to be “Feel at Home” and the family atmosphere of the tournament has been a key factor in attracting some of the best WTA players. There is a reshuffling underway in the WTA for the reclassification of tournaments and Director Danielle Mass views this as positive for the WTA Luxembourg tournament.

The first player to be announced is WTA ranked #60, 23-year old Canadian, Eugenie Bouchard. "Genie" will be making her third appearance in Luxembourg; she failed to reach the 2nd round in her earlier attempts. She has started off the 2017 clay season with some impressive wins, including her first over former No. 1 Maria Sharapova, and will be looking to continue her winning form.

32 players will battle in the qualifications for 4 places in the main draw that will be made up of 32 players including 3 wildcards. The doubles field will be made up of 16 pairs.

The tournament will be broadcast for the first time over WTA Media with a distribution in 170 countries and a potential 660 million households.
