Top British Swimmers to Participate in Luxembourg's Euro Meet Swimming Gala

The organising comittee of the Euro Meet swimming gala in Luxembourg has confirmed participation of many British world class athletes at the 19th Euro Meet event that takes place from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 January in the Aquatic Centre at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

Within three days, in addition to various other top international swimmers from Denmark and Germany, the following British athletes will be participating:  

• Hannah MILEY (Silver Medallist European Championships London 2016 (400m medley); Bronze Medallist European Championships London 2016 (200m medley))
• Aimee WILLMOTT
• Max LITCHFIELD
• Daniel WALLACE
• Duncan SCOTT
• Stephen MILNE
• Siobhan-Marie O'CONNOR
• Chris WALKER-HEBBORN
• Ben PROUD (Bronze Medallist European Championships London 2016 (50m freestyle, 50m butterfly))
• Adam BARRETT
• Adam PEATY (Double World Champion Kazan 2015 (50m, 100m breaststroke); Olympic Champion Rio de Janeiro 2016 (100m breaststroke); World Record Holder 50m, 100m breaststroke (long course))
• Nick GRAINGER
• Molly RENSHAW

“After the Olympic Games we await a year of transition as many of the internationals Top-Stars will start the season little bit easier. On the other hand the Euro Meet will be the first qualifying event and milestone in the preparation of the World Championships 2017 in Budapest” said Meet Director Gil Kandel.

Luxembourg’s local heroes will also attend the Euro Meet: Olympian Raphaël Stacchiotti and teammate Julien Henx are still in a building up phase, as they will end their military service by the end of the year. Since October, Olympian Laurent Carnol has been working as a lecturer at the Luxembourg University, but he is scheduled to participate in the Euro Meet. In spite of their studies, Julie Meynen (Auburn), Monique Olivier (Edinburgh), Eline van den Bossche (Indianapolis) and Pit Brandenburger (Antibes) will reinforce Luxembourg’s Euro Meet Team 2017. In total, circa 25 members of Luxembourg’s national squad (Junior and Youth) will compete in the Federations Euro Meet Team 2017.
