On Friday evening, the "Red Lions" represented Luxembourg in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in a FIFA World Cup Group A qualifier.

At the end of the 90 minutes, the score was a conprehensive 5-0 win for the home side (2-0 at half-time); last November, the Dutch ran out 3-1 winners in the game played in the Grand Duchy.

Coached by Dick Advocaat, who was back in charge of the national time for the third time in his career - the Dutch had started this campaign poorly and did not qualify for the year's Euro 2016 in France - the Dutch outplayed their BeNeLux near-neighbours to remain in 3rd place, with Luxembourg propping up the table.

The goals came from Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray), Vincent Janssen (Spurs), Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool), Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) and Quincy Promes (Spartak Moscow).
