The train station at Schifflange has been closed and no trains are allowed pass through the station due to a munitions device discovered at a construction site close to the railway station.

The discovery was made shortly before 09:00 this morning (Thursday) and is thought to be a WWII bomb that did not explode when dropped during a wartime bombing raid.

The CFL has cleared the train station and stopped trains from passing by the town and station (to/from Esch-sur-Alzette), with a security cordon established around the station, and work at the construction site stopped. The Luxembourg army bomb disposal unit (service déminage) has been sent to defuse the munitions device.
