The "CHARGY OK" terminal, installed by the national electricity supplier and operator of the distribution network of the town of Mersch, Electris, was inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of Michel Malherbe, Mayor of Mersch, and numerous personalities from the automotive and energy sectors.

The project was launched by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure. François Bausch, Minister for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, congratulated Garage Kremer on private initiative and clarified "in the framework of the electrification of transport, the Government introduced new incentives for the acquisition of electric cars including the "Chargy" network. A total of 1,600 load points will be installed by the end of 2020; "Chargy OK" load points, set up by private or public actors. I am confident that these measures, coupled with increasing autonomy, will guarantee the substantial success of electric cars and thus help to achieve the challenge of decarbonising transport in Luxembourg."

The installation of an electric charge terminal integrated into the public initiative demonstrates the willingness of Garage Kremer to contribute actively to the awareness of electric mobility in Luxembourg.

Philippe Mersch, managing partner of Garage Kremer, which distributes the Kia and Subaru brands and is President of Fégarlux, the garage federation in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, stated "With the installation of the Garage Kremer charging station, we want to set the example of the contribution of a private company to a state project and in particular to the Rifkin study. We believe it is important to provide our customers and the public with an infrastructure that integrates into a comprehensive concept and is easy to use. We are also committed to filling a gap in the coverage of load-bearing terminals for the Mersch region."
