Dunlop Europe has launched its latest tyre for the hyper sport sector, the SportSmart² Max, with a radical redesign of the front construction and substantial improvements in dry handling and mileage.

The company says the new tyre integrates lessons learned from Dunlop’s World championship winning endurance racing programme and with the experience gained in developing the revolutionary RoadSmart III Sport Touring tire, focusing on four development areas.

Using learnings from the recent test-winning RoadSmart III Sport Touring tire, Dunlop say they developed a radical front construction that dramatically reduces the amount of effort required to change direction, and has been proven to improve front tire durability by 25%.

The former model’s grip has been improved, with lighter handling and a new stepped-edge sidewall that gives improved confidence on extreme lean angles at very high cornering speeds.

A new compound also allows the tyre to expand contact for maximum grip in wet and cold conditions.

Motorcycle marketing manager, Andy Marfleet, praised the work of the Dunlop Technology Team.

“By taking the learnings from a diverse range of successful road and track products, including RoadSmart III, FIM Endurance World Championship Race tires and the existing strengths of the SportSmart2, we have been able to create a hypersport tyre which brings considerable improvements in mileage and performance, and offers exhilarating handling with precise steering feedback," he said.

“Our latest GP Racer D212 track tyre went on sale in January, and the SportSmart2 Max in February, meaning Dunlop will have the freshest and most innovative product line up in the hypersport segment” added Andy.
