The first stone was ceremoniously laid at the E-building, the new ZithaKlinik building along Rue d'Anvers in Luxembourg City.

Luxembourg Minister of Health, Lydia Mutsch, gave a speech at the foundation stone ceremony, describing the project as an opportunity to establish more space for care and diagnosis activities, as well as for the set-up of quality medical support, which she stated that "residents of all ages" deserved.

Expected to be operational in 2019, the work on the new building will cost €69 million, with Minister Mutsch explaining that 80% is being financed by the state and 20% via the Caisse de maladie.

The concept behind the new premises has been emphasised as an enhancement of the services provided, rather than an aim to increase capacity.
