Since their launch in 2015, three "maisons médicales" are available for out-of-hours medical consultations, when doctors (GPs) are not available and a trip to a hospital emergency department would not be appropriate as the medical condition is not a medical emergency.

Luxembourg's Ministry of Health has issued a reminder to the public just at the time of increased risk of contracting influenza, chills, angina, or gastrointestinal disorders, that the three medical centres are available.

The Health Inspection Division of the Health Directorate has reported an increased number of cases of infectious diarrhea (Norovirus) in the Grand Duchy, but within the normal limits of the season. The same is true for the flu that is now starting - a high number of influenza cases will be expected in the coming days and weeks.

The three "maisons médicales", which are located close to hospitals, function as a general practice and are open outside normal hours. They are designed to provide a replacement service for family physicians (GPs) to ensure continuity of care after hours, during week-ends and over public holidays. A trusted doctor at each centre welcomes patients and supports them in a personalised, human and confidential way.

In case of a real medical emergency, thiose in need can still always dial tel: 112.

The three locations are as follows:

• Luxembourg-Ville: 59 rue Michel Welter, L-2730 Luxembourg.
• Esch/Alzette: 70 rue Émile Mayrisch, L-4240 Esch-sur-Alzette.
• Ettelbruck: 110 avenue Lucien Salentiny, L-9080 Ettelbruck.

Opening Hours:

• On weekends and holidays, this service is provided from 08:00 to 07:00 the following morning;
• On weekdays, this service runs from 20:00 to 07:00.

After midnight, it is necessary to tel: 112.
