PROGRAMME

31 Aug @ Salle Robert Krieps, Abbaye de Neumunster - Tickets €20 (reduced €8) from tel: 262052-444, email: billetterie@neimenster.lu

19:30:  Bolero, by Jesus Rubio Gamo - «Bolero is a dance piece about tenacity. It explores the frontier between lightness and gravity and the fine line separating pleasure and exhaustion. It could well be said to be a dance about the passing of time, the relationships that last forever and my memories of my parents when they were young. It also has something of the current landscape I perceive in Madrid and is somehow similar to the melody of Ravel's Bolero, to love, dance and flamenco songs: when practiced too much, often ends up broken.»

(Jesús Rubio Gamo).

20:00: Hope Hunt by Oona Doherty - Hope Hunt lies between the lines of physical theatre, social proclamation and dance as the performer mutates into separate entireties, morphing from one character to the next. Through speech, movement, and sound we are twisted and contorted through ideas of masculinity, morality and nostalgia. The hope hunter hits and swerves at extreme stereotypes of cultural and social class: the masks of men as a form of personal defence against the self and the world. The consequences of boredom on the psyche are ripped open through physical labour on stage, teetering on the fine lines between comedy and tragedy.

20:50: Octopuss Adorabilis by Jonas and Lander - Jonas & Lander invite you to enter an imaginary bestiary and meet a new type of exuberant octopus, the Adorabilis. After 5 years of collaborative work, the point of departure for this new piece is their shared direction. Appealing and intensely performed, the male trio creates a ceremonial space filled by rhythm and bodies in unison. Expect a maze-like performance inspired by cultural and biological diversity, creating a labyrinthine dance. Light, sound and scenery are autonomous elements in themselves that affect the behavior and reactions of performers, such as rain, night or spring are determinant elements of animal life.

1 Sep @ TROIS C-L (12 rue du Puits, L-2355 Luxembourg-Bonnevoie) - Tickets €5 from tel: 404569, email: danse@danse.lu

18:30: Stage de danse contemporaine by Jill Crovisier (LU).

2 Sep @ Salle Robert Krieps, Abbaye de Neumunster - Tickets €20 (reduced €8) from tel: 262052-444, email: billetterie@neimenster.lu

19:30: KODUKU by Daniele Ninarello - Kudoku marks a collaboration of composer Dan Kinzelman with choreographer Daniele Ninarello, experimenting with both sound and body. The two meet on stage with a common ground for exploration: space as a place in which to exercise and transfigure the physical and sonic body. Dan Kinzelman performs a suite of improvised music - using his voice, synthesizers and feedbackloops - while Daniele Ninarello in the choreographic part not only explores his familiar field of instant composition, but processes the constant dialogue with the soundscape and the information he receives from it.

20:10: The Womenhouse by Himherandit Productions - The WOMANhouse is an eye-catching quartet in which four athletic performers explore gender-based stereotypes by acting like typical blokes - with beards and all -, stirring up fights and frenzy, while questioning their masculinities. What is it to be man? Is this the same as being masculine? Does your body define your gender? Where does the masculine begin and the feminine end? With these questions in mind the lines between constructed gender and their own bodies are explored. Tender, aggressive, sexy, blurry - this show crosses all the lines.

21:20: Elvedon by Leon and Wolf - This project, choreographed by Christos Papadopoulos, is inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel The Waves which tells the story of six friends from childhood to old age. Six personalities and perceptions of reality, intertwined in an ever-flowing world, like ocean waves. The main element in both the book and this project, is the passing of time as a powerful force of evolution, resulting in a world of constant change, where opposite forces collide and cooperate. The concept of eternal flow is the heart of Elvedon, portrayed with the means of repetition, bouncing, and gradual development of the corporal movement.
