Despite rumours and reports in other media, Ryanair will not be moving operations from Frankfurt Hahn to Luxembourg airport.
Frankfurt Hahn CEO, Markus Bunk, commented at a recent public event that the airport may have to "deal with the POSSIBILITY that Ryanair might start up a business" in Luxembourg, leading to speculation and rumour.
A spokesperson for Frankfurt Hahn stated "This is all speculation... Ryanair is NOT cancelling any flights from or to (Frankfurt Hahn airport)" which had 2.6 million passengers in 2015, of which 80% were with Ryanair. She added "passengers can already book flights for the winter schedule" at Frankfurt Hahn airport, a clear sign that Ryanair is continuing to fly to/from Frankfurt Hahn after this year's summer season.
Regarding Luxembourg, Ryanair's intentions are as clear as they have ever been; the airline has not issued a statement.
Lux-airport has referred all contact on the matter to Luxembourg's Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastrusture. A spokesperson for the Ministry this afternoon stated "there are currently NO proposals from Ryanair on the table" and that the last contact with Ryanair was over one year ago.
