As of 1 January 2017, the majority of electricity and natural gas providers have lowered their prices in Luxembourg.

In December 2016, the Institut Luxembourgeois de Régulation (ILR) published a report on the compliance of the prices of electricity and natural gas providers with public service obligations. In light of this and the emergence of alternative providers offering cheaper prices, most standard electricity and natural gas providers have decreased their prices.

In 2016, the yearly saving for an average home which chose cheaper electricity providers was 90. Moreover, as of the start of this month, tariffs for the use of electrical networks are identical throughout the country.

These tariffs will decrease by more than 10% for the average home using the Creos network, and even more for those using other networks.

In light of these changes, the ILR encourages consumers to make active decisions regarding their choice of energy provider.
