At the meeting of 21 June 2017, the government cabinet approved the grand-ducal regulation establishing the programme for the construction of subsidised housing projects as well as state ownership.

The updating of the programme involves an overall addition of 56 new projects for a total of 346 units, of which 93 will be for sale and 253 units for rental. It should be noted that according to the government agreement the share of rental housing is rising considerably. The update approved today provides 73% of subsidised housing for rental.

Moreover, 66% of these 56 new projects are, respectively, initiated by municipalities, which is a significant example of the strong dynamics induced in social housing and subsidised by the municipal initiative.

The additional investment resulting from the addition of the 56 projects (€55.16 million), confirms the government's attempts to continue and increase the support and promotion of the efforts of municipalities and other public promoters as well as the initiative of private actors, various associations and foundations.

Since October 2014, 344 new projects have been approved by the Governing Council for a total of 4,096 units of which 1,602 are for sale and 2,494 for rental.
