The Grand Ducal Police have reported that an individual’s dead body was found during firefighting operations in a barn in Leudelange on the evening of Sunday 28 April 2024.

A major fire was reported on a farm in Leudelange at around 16:00 on Sunday afternoon. On-site, it was discovered that the roof truss of a barn was completely engulfed in flames. Several neighbouring fire brigades were called to the scene to extinguish the fire. The rescue operation required surrounding roads in the rue Eich to be closed to traffic, including the Elsy Jacobs cycling race festival, which had to be diverted at short notice.

During the firefighting operations, a person's body was found in the building in the evening hours. The public prosecutor's office was informed and a criminal investigation was commissioned to examine the barn fire incident. According to the Grand Ducal police, the fire was still not fully extinguished later in the evening, with firefighters working on it at the time their report was received on Sunday. They noted that the roads around Rue d'Eich, which were closed around the fire site, will likely remain closed until Monday morning.
